We embrace sustainability. Organically sourced foods or those fresh from our garden are our preference for the meals we provide.
Breakfast
We offer three breakfast options:
• Breakfast Basket: NZ$29,00 per person.
• Special Gourmet Breakfast: NZ$39,00 per person.
Please note that our homemade breakfasts are not included in your Suite price, leaving you the freedom to create your own breakfast or to order one from us.
All our Suites are fully equipped to enable you to prepare your own breakfast. If one day you wish to escape from our tasty temptations, this means you are more than welcome to do so!
If you would like one of our homemade breakfasts on your first morning, please order online in combination with your Suite and Excursion preferences.
Breakfast Provisions
Our Breakfast Provisions include tasty muesli, canned fruit, milk, yoghurt, bread, spreads (butter, honey, jam & Nutella), free range eggs, cheese (Babybel & Laughing Cow), pastries and premium orange juice so you can begin each day with a delicious, healthy breakfast while staying at The Bay Lodge. Coffee & tea are always on hand in your Suite. Please note that our breakfast provisions will serve you a generous breakfast for several days. You can enjoy these in your time and in your preferred way. All Breakfast Provisions will be ready in your Suite the evening of your arrival and are available on a daily base. Price per provision for two: NZ$89.
Breakfast Basket
Our Breakfast Basket contains premium juice, fresh fruit, milk, bread, butter, local honey, homemade jam, chocolate spread, organic cereals, premium yoghurt, fresh eggs and sweet pastry or cookies. Each morning, we will bring your breakfast to your Suite. This service is available from 8.30am. Price pp is NZ$29.00. Coffee & tea are always on hand in your Suite. These Breakfast baskets are available on a daily base.
Special Gourmet Breakfast
Our Special Gourmet Breakfast is also served to your Suite. It contains all the local goodies for a perfect start of your day: a delicious smoothie, freshly baked bread, pastry/cake, a selection of homemade spreads, local cheeses, meat or fish, milk, organic cereals, gourmet yoghurt and a lovely fresh fruit salad. Coffee & tea are always on hand in your Suite. We bring this breakfast to your Suite at the time you prefer (8.30am – 10.00am). You can enjoy your gourmet breakfast in the privacy of your Suite or in real ‘holiday style’ on your outdoor deck. Price pp is NZ$39.00. This Gourmet Breakfast option is available on Thursdays and Saturdays.
Gourmet platter
Our selection of platters is an ideal accompaniment to your pre-dinner drink or as an alternative dinner option after a long drive or full-on day of adventure.
Our platter includes a selection of local cheeses and a wide range of delicious tastings such as locally sourced smoked salmon, fish & French hand-crafted pates, salami, dried fruit, grapes, baby tomatoes, olives, gherkins, chutney, pesto and nuts. This is all served with a selection of breads, grissini and crackers. Price: NZ$45 per person (minimum 2 persons). Prebooking essential, the latest the day before and this before 10.00am.
Local restaurants
There are a number of eateries and cafes within walking distance of our Lodge and even more choice in the colourful town of Takaka, a 10 minute drive from Pohara. You are more than welcome to let us know your preference and we will book a table for you. Please keep in mind that most restaurant kitchens in the Bay close around 8.00pm and that last seating is around 7.45pm.
